Discover My Top 10 Snacks to Help you Lose Weight
Snacking can either make or break your diet. The trick is to choose the right food and have it readily available.
I always try and prepare my snacks in little baggies that I can pull out of the pantry or fridge in a hurry. This way I don’t have to think about whether the food fits into my diet. I can eat it knowing that this food is doing me good.
Here are my Top 10 snacks in no particular order.
1 ~ Eggs

Eggs are one of nature's wonder foods. They contain many vitamins and minerals and would have to be one of the most nutritious foods on the planet. You can either hard boil them beforehand, or fry them in a bit of olive oil and butter when you are hungry. You can even add some spices and veggies as well.
2 ~ Nuts & Seeds

Nuts and seeds are highly nutritious and loaded with antioxidants. They are a great source Vitamin E and micronutrients such as magnesium, phosphorus, copper and selenium. The nuts that you want to eat are tree nuts ie macadamias, cashews, almonds, walnuts, etc. Do not eat peanuts! Peanuts are not a true nut; they are a legume.
3 ~ Celery Stalks Filled with Nut Butter
Once again, make sure your nut butter is not Peanut Butter. I love Cashew Butter. To prepare this snack, wash your celery and stuff the middle of it with your favorite nut butter. Some days I even sprinkle a few sultanas not top. But make sure you hide these from the kids. My kids and grandkids loved these. They even put cheese in some of the celery sticks.
4 ~ Dark Chocolate & Apple Slices

This is so pleasing to the taste buds. Make sure that the chocolate is at least 70% cocoa to get all the health benefits. And the green granny smith apples are better for you than the red ones. But if you don’t like them, just grab a red apple.
5 ~ Tuna & Salad

I often make a tuna and salad bowl on the days when I have been busy outside. I mix together a tin of tuna with a green garden salad and sprinkle over a bit of olive oil, lime juice, and salt. I enjoy eating it straight out of the bowl. YUM!
6 ~ Stir Fry Veggies

This is one of the reasons why preparing your veggies after coming home from the shop works. Grab your favorite stir fry veggies, add a bit of olive oil to the pan and stir them all together. Add a dash of salt ad a bit of your favorite sauce such as oyster or chili.
7 ~ Cheese & Olives

This is so simple to do and very tasty. I have a variety of cheeses and olives in my fridge at all times. I cut a mix of cheese slices and put them on a plate with about 10 or so mixed olives. I love olives whether they the black ones or the green ones. I even know of people who pickle their own vegetables and eat them with the olives and cheese.
8 ~ Chicken, Avocado & Salad

This snack works really well if you had chicken the night before. Simply take some of last night’s leftover chicken and mix it with a green garden salad and slices of avocado. Of course, there is nothing stopping you from cooking a bit of chicken to use right on the spot either.
9 ~ Veggie Chips
Veggie Chips have become very popular lately so I thought I would find a video or two so that you can make your own for a fraction of the cost.
Oven-Baked Veggie Chips from the Root Vegetables of Sweet Potatoes, Yams, Beets & Carrots
Oven-baked Veggie Chips from the Leafy Green Vegetables of Brussels Sprouts, Kale and Collard Greens
This would have to be the easiest snack of all. Just be sure to package them in snack-sized baggies or containers for easy access.
